St. Lucie Board of County Commissioners Recognized by the United Way for its Efforts in Promoting a Healthier Community
The United Way of St. Lucie County recognized the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners last week with a 2017 Spirit of St. Lucie Health Impact Award.
St. Lucie County earned the Spirit of St. Lucie Award for its efforts in promoting a healthier community; not only within the organization, but throughout the entire community. The Board of County Commissioners launched a number of health initiatives from an employee wellness program to guided nature hikes for residents and visitors to get out and explore St. Lucie County’s pristine nature preserves.
Additionally, the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners was recognized as one of the top campaigns contributing more than $71,500 to the United Way during the 2016-17 budget year. These funds were raised by St. Lucie County through employee giving and the annual Ultimate Drive Golf Tournament.
“The United Way plays a huge part in helping thousands of St. Lucie County residents each year, so we are thrilled to be able to help give back and be acknowledged for our efforts in trying to make the community a better place,” said St. Lucie County Commission Chairman Chris Dzadovsky.
This is St. Lucie County’s second Spirit of St. Lucie Award in recent years. The United Way presented the county with a Spirit of St. Lucie Award in 2015 following the inaugural Ultimate Drive Golf Tournament.
